“Whatever you do. Keep This Hip Hop shit true. Thats all I ask of yooouu…” Fat Joe’s In Town” is a stand out record from Joe’s “Jealous Ones Envy” album. The whole album is dope classic NY/East Coast boombap but this record with its Toni!Tony!Toné Sample on the hook just slaps like no other. The track “Envy” off this album is also crazy dope and samples “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye
“Your Mind Will Not Accept a Game This Big”. Revolver is a Guy Ritchie film about a gambler named Jake Green who goes to jail and upon his release ends up entering a game with deadly consequences. Excuse the cliche Hollywood description but this movie is real psychological and its impossible to describe without giving something away, which would ruin it and its REALLY good. 3 Stacks is in it as well with Jason Statham and Ray Liotta. Solid Cast. Crazy plot. Really dope shots. Its on Netflix. + Luc Besson wrote it. Besson is responsible for “La Femme Nikita”, “Taken”, “The Professional”, “Fifth Element”, “Colombiana” and “The Transporter” franchise.
Art Museum Niterói designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Niemeyer is a Brazilian Master, who like Saarinen another hero of mine, makes buildings look like something out of the Jetson’s. Niterói is in Rio de Janeiro and was completed in 1996.
DOOM is incredible, one of the most technically sound rappers ever. And he makes is own beats. On this song, “Hoe Cakes”, he samples Anita’s “Sweet Love”, and is a prototypical MF DOOM banger. 9th Wonder made a similar flip for Drake on the song “Think Good Thoughts” ft. Phonte an Elzhi. In fact, “Think Good Thoughts” might need its own post, its super dope. Dope example of a classic/ timeless record flipped and re-appropriated into new songs that are also exceptional
There wil never be another. She’s for sure my top five singers ever. + she GETS DOWN live. I need a DeLorian.
If you don’t like Anita Baker, something’s wrong with you playa. Caught up In the Rapture. Live.
I don’t really dig Mustangs after 1970 but this joint is too clean. Caine’s 1991 Ford Mustang 5.0 from ‘Menace ii Society’. If you ever listened to Dom Kennedy’s Yellow Album or saw his video for “When I come Around”, this is the 5.0 he’s talking about/ pushing in the vid.
